Architecture begins where measurement ends.

"A great building must begin with the immeasurable, must go through measurable means when it is being designed, and in the end must be unmeasured." — Louis Kahn
What We Do

Five disciplines.
One practice.
One grid.

Every project we take on draws from more than one of these disciplines simultaneously. A residence requires architecture and landscape. A hospital requires architecture, planning, and management. We practice them together because buildings do not exist in isolation.

01

Architecture

Vastu Purush Mandala — the grid before the plan

From site analysis and feasibility through to construction supervision. Every building type: residential, commercial, institutional, cultural, educational, healthcare. The full architectural service, no project too complex.

02

Interior Design

Antariksha — the inner space

Space planning, material selection, lighting strategy, custom furniture coordination. The interior designed in continuous dialogue with the structure it inhabits — never as a layer applied after the building is complete.

03

Landscape Design

Sthapatya — the art of placement

Site as the starting point, not the afterthought. Pedestrian movement, water, shade, and the relationship between built and unbuilt space — all designed with the same rigour as the building it surrounds.

04

Urban Design & Planning

Nagara — the city form

Feasibility studies, architectural programming, urban design, and planning for complex multi-building and multi-use developments. The practice has carried this work since 2000 alongside individual buildings.

05

Project Management

Karma — the discipline of execution

Coordination of all professional disciplines, budget development, schedule management, contractor prequalification, construction package preparation, and site supervision. The design delivered as designed.

"Norms and established modes are put into constant questioning to arrive at a suitable topological model."

The Practice

The same question,
twenty-five years
of different answers.

Space Grid Architects was established in Jaipur in 2000.

The question that has governed every project since is always the same: what does this specific site, this specific brief, and this specific moment in a client's life require that no other building has ever required in exactly the same way?

Our design methodology begins with identification — of the unique issues, potentials, and constraints embedded in every context. We question the established approach before we adopt it. We arrive at a design not by applying a style, but by following the logic of the problem until the logic produces a form.

The result, across 25 years and every building type from private residences to public institutions, is projects that satisfy their brief not only at the moment of completion, but in the decades that follow.

How We Work

From the immeasurable
to the built.

01

Context & Brief

Before any drawing, we study the site — its orientation, its neighbours, its topography, its relationship to pedestrian movement and public space. The brief is interrogated, not accepted at face value. Both must be fully understood before the design begins.

02

Concept & Schematic Design

The first design decisions: how does the building occupy the site? What structural system does the brief demand? What is the relationship between the building's interior and the landscape around it? Schematics that answer questions, not just show possibilities.

03

Design Development

Every space resolved. Every material decision made in the context of the whole. Coordination with structural, services, and landscape disciplines. Vastu planning integrated where required. Environmental performance evaluated at every stage — not added at the end.

04

Construction Documentation

The complete drawing set. Architectural, structural, interior, and landscape drawings fully coordinated. Specifications complete. Contractor packages prepared. Nothing left to interpretation on site.

05

Supervision & Handover

Regular site visits at every structural milestone. Execution verified against drawings. Deviations identified and corrected before they compound. Handover only when the built space matches what was designed — and what was promised.

"The result is designs and plans that satisfy client requirements not only at the time of conception, but also long after the execution of the projects." — Space Grid Architects
Client Words

"They asked questions
no one else asked."

"We had spoken to several architects before meeting Space Grid. The difference was immediate — they visited the site before we had finished explaining the brief. Every design decision they made after was rooted in something specific about the land."

A. Sharma

Residential Project · Vaishali Nagar, Jaipur

"The building was completed three years ago. It still functions exactly as designed. What they called 'environmental sensitivity' in our first meeting turned out to mean the rooms are cool in summer without additional air conditioning load."

R. Goyal

Commercial Project · Tonk Road, Jaipur

"Twenty-five years of practice shows. Not in any particular style — in the way they think about a problem. They question things that other architects simply accept."
